Journals by Dwi As Setianingsih Executive summary by Darmansjah Godjali

It was still early when in mid-April and then we stamped foot in Xiamen, a port city was the capital of Fujian Province, china. The journey from Jakarta to Xiamen we traveled for five hours with the airline Air China.

The cold air feels ambushed skin. For a moment, drowsiness which sag during flight evaporate with cold. Two hours after the body lay to rest the eyes and the tired, we start the journey to get to know Xiamen.

At first glance, there's nothing special with Xiamen. The town is known as China's gateway was impressed too quiet. The highway is wide, in several sections of up to three to four lanes, only passed a few vehicles. Nothing seemed crowded city bustle, traffic jams, and people hurriedly passing by completing the day.

Alleged Xiamen is not an attractive city vanished after some time exploring the corners of the city of Xiamen. The most fitting conclusion is in the middle of a quiet atmosphere, something big is happening in the city which since 1980 has made a special economic zone in China.

The city which since 2006 became sister city to Surabaya, East Java, this looks busy building. The city government to build highways, flyovers, tunnels under the sea, hotels, until the conference hall. One of them by way of reclaiming the sea.

In the area adjacent to the airport, about 15 minutes road trip, "pulse" pulse development is visible. "This area is planned to be the new downtown Xiamen," Victor said Qiu, a tour guide of Xiamen C & D Travel.

Xiamen in new areas, there is no slum Because of all the residents moved out of town. Instead, the local government to build apartments.

A 5 star hotel was established in the region to accommodate a variety of activities in the form of large scale events. This year, Xiamen has 10 planned 5 star hotel that is ready to accommodate up to 30,000 guests.

In addition to racing with a variety of construction, Xiamen Government also implemented a policy that deserves a lot of thumbs up. Some of them are spacious green areas, sewage treatment, and traffic regulations.

Currently, the availability of green land in Xiamen has been set at 40% of the total area of Xiamen area. 1565 square kilometers. This is evidenced by the number of trees planted at each location, especially on the left and right side of the road. Industrial area was also moved out of town.

Left and right sides of the streets in Xiamen to provide sidewalks for pedestrians who shading by trees. Parks around the coast are many athlete statues decorated along the left and right park. Ordinary citizens take advantage of the sidewalk around the beach to sit around enjoying the sunset.

Bycontinuing environmental life, Xiamen Government requires that every restaurant is located on the edge of the beach has its own wastewater treatment. Restaurant waste in the form of leftover food should not be thrown into the sea.

Xianmen government also prohibits the use of motorcycles
. This rule has been in force since 10 years ago. Motorcycles are considered too dangerous and contribute as a cause of congestion and pollution that may only be used outside the city of Xiamen.

In the city, residents use public transportation in the form of buses, private cars are not too many, also the electric motorcycle powered by battery. Electric motorcycle is recommended because in addition to more environmentally friendly is also not harmful.

  2. It's being here now that's important. There's no past and there's no future. Time is a very misleading thing. All there is ever, is the now. We can gain experience from the past, but we can't relive it; and we can hope for the future, but we don't know if there is one.
