Wine for Asia offering a weekend of wine indulgence in Singapore

This year, Wine for Asia goes beyond just providing a business platform for wine buyers to meet wineries. Five impactful events will be organized in conjunction with the exhibition to bring greater excitements to the wine industry in Southeast Asia.

Southeast Asia Wine Pioneer Recognition Award

For the first time in history, those who have contributed significantly to the development of the Southeast Asian Wine industry will be formally recognized. The Southeast Asian Wine Pioneer Award will be given to deserving pioneers from the various SEA countries. Some 20 to 30 of these pioneers will meet at Wine For Asia to receive their awards.

Global Wine Personalities

Last year saw the launch of the Global Wine Personality series with Michel Rolland, dubbed as the flying winemaker, being invited to grace Wine For Asia as its first Global Wine Personality. The objective of the series is to honour wine personalities who are recognized globally for their significant contributions to the wine industry.

This year, the selection criteria of the personality focuses on the impact the personality has on the Asian wine market, mirroring that of the Southeast Asian Wine Pioneers. The 2011 GWPS will be regognised for their pioneering efforts in raising the level of understanding and appreciation of wine in Asia. After a series of consultations and deliberation, the selection committee has finally decided to honour the collective efferts of six bordelaise who have shown strong commitments in the past years in raising the wine knowledge level of Asian wine trade, in particular those in the service sector. This year, a grand master class will be held at Wine for Asia followed by an epicurean Bordeaux wine dinner for the regional wine community visiting Wine for Asia. Six personalities representing the following 8 great chateaux will be honoured:

Chateau Brane Cantenax – Margaux



Chateau Pichon Baron Longueville – Pauillac


Chateau Leoville Barton – St Julien


Chateau Montrose – St Estephe


Chateau Figeac – St Emilion


Chateau Petit Village – Pomerol


Domaine de Chevalier – Leognan


The Vini-Chalenge

Wine for Asia will be organising a national wine challenge to raise the awareness in wine among the general public as well as those currently pursuing training in the hospitality sector. The Vini-Challenge recognizes how Asian in general embraces wine. To win at the Vine-Challenge, one must definitely have a basic foundation in wine. But it takes more than knowledge to win. Guts in another factor. Finally to build excitements in the challenge, the element of luck also plays a role in your winning chances.


Indulgence Singapore

As Wine for Asia closes on the evening of 28 October, visitors to the exhibition can look forward to a weekend of wine and fun. Indulgence Singapore starts with a sumptuous wine dinner. After dinner, it is boat ride time,. During the trip, you will be brought down the memory lane on how wine and F&B first established their presence on the city state. You will also get the chance to view the magnificent and towering Marina Bay Sands from the best angle.

Our guide will also explain to you the Feng Shui principle behind the MBS Casino. After  the boat tour, you will be free to explore on your own Singapore’s most popular Wine & Dine place, Clarke Quay. They will be an optional visit to another wine watering hole: Dempsey Hill where mothers used to cry when their sons were driven away for the first time to serve the nation. Today their sons are also lost there but for good reasons.

Wine Fiesta

On Saturday 29 October,  Wine for Asia will be transformed into a consumer friendly wine platforms, Wine Fiesta. Visitors will get to sample over 2000 wine labels, many of which are presented for the first time in Asia. Wine Style Asia Award Wining wines will also be presented at Wine Fiesta. Grab your chance to be among the first to taste the gold medal wines chosen by a panel of renowned judges.  There will also be a line up of 48 wine clinics which surely will answer to all your queries about wine.
