Ecolodge of the future
What
will the next generation of ecolodges look like? We asked Kenyan-born ecolodge
expert Hitesh Mehta: “Up-cycling abandoned shipping containers will become one
of the most environmentally friendly approaches for the ecolodge of the future.
The exterior will be covered in plant panels that form living walls. The green
roof will have solar photovoltaics (such as at Poland’s Eco Frontiers Ranch)
and composted soil with native flora. Inside, recycled wood panels with
soy-based paints will have porthole windows that usher in the daylight to
illuminate a décor of cultural artifacts.”
