Río Tampaón in San Luis Potosí, México

Río Tampaón is a river in the region of San Luis Potosí, the country of the Mexico with an altitude average 24 metres above sea level. Flood risk is high. Río Tampaón a dry subhumid (0.5 - 0.65/pet p) climate. The soil of the region is rich in vertisols (vr), cracking clay soils.

Rivers

The Santa Maria River, which penetrates to the San Luis Valley to the South of Villa de Reyes, receives the waters of Plan of Arriaga and Jesús María streams, the Enramada, new Earth and the strong; It goes into the State of Querétaro and reappears with a Southwest to Northeast direction and collects the waters of the Green River that comes from the Sierra from Alvarez, crossing several municipalities, after join it to the Gallinas river turns to the Huasteca Plains where it receives the Tampaón River and river valleys, formed by the tables and the jump; to the South, several smaller rivers pour their waters and reached Tamuín and with that name joins the Moctezuma River to form the Pánuco River.

The Moctezuma River reaches San Luis Potosí by Tamazunchale and after crossing the city of that name receives the flow of the rivers Amajaque and Axtla and attended the Tamuín River to form the Pánuco. The Tantoán River is formed to the North of the municipality of Tamuín and serves as a natural boundary with the State of Tamaulipas.

WATERFALLS

In the municipality of city of maize, the El Salto River forms an impressive waterfall at a height of 60 meters and it is known under the name of "El Salto". Later form others lower in height highlighting their backwaters of the turquoise blue waters.
