Isle of Skye and Kinloch Lodge

Executive summary by darmansjah

“Luxury with great views”
If you seek a hotel off the beaten track, but luxurious, with great service, this is for you. Our room was on the first floor with windows on three sides, with excellent views over the loch. It had everything you would expect in a hotel room - comfortable bed, large storage space, large bathroom, with separate bath and shower. Breakfast...

“Don't miss it - fabulous and surprisingly accommodating for families”
We enjoyed a wonderful lunch at Kinloch Lodge. Arriving in our walking clothes just to check out the menu, Jim was so welcoming we decided just to stay and have lunch. Pre-lunch drinks and canapés in the wee bar with its open fire, then through to the restaurant. Jim and the team were so welcoming to the children and cooking...

“Romantic place with amazing kitchen”
We booked our hotel there just based on tripadvisor and on the website information and loved our stay. I don't agree with some of the comments regarding "not a luxury hotel" or the food or the slow service: 1) Consider that this is Luxury Lodge(not hotel, it never advertises with that) with a wonderful bathroom (I think room 7). But...

“Perfect”
Just back from 3 nights on Skye, at the fabulous Kinloch Lodge. Not cheap, but you definitely get what you pay for. Our room was beautiful, with the biggest bathroom I have ever seen. Location is exquisite, staff are great - really friendly and chatty, food is delicious, open fires are always a treat, public rooms are lovely. I had...

“Hugely Disappointing Afternoon Tea”
Have been for afternoon tea at Gleneagles and Blythswood Hotel (Glasgow) so expectation relatively high but based on recommendations (as displayed at main entrance) decided to take my wife and 2 kids for afternoon tea - £19/head but based on price alone it should be good! Where do i start, on arriving at reception my first impression was not of...

“Loved, loved, loved!”
What a wonderful place to stay. Serene and beautiful postcard perfect surroundings, warm and helpful staff, excellent cuisine, great value for money. Came to the lodge at the end of a long drive and after a distillery tour at Talisker. Perfect way to end our day in the Highlands. Stayed in the suite with the enormous bathroom. Loved everything and...

“Very disappointing”
This is advertised as a luxury hotel and it certainly has luxury hotel prices hoiwever, the accommodation is certainly not luxurious and the dining room is not up to a Michelin star. The room we had (18) was too small to allow for a comfortable armchair never mind two and instead there were two upright chairs in opposite corners but no...

“Pricey but worth it”
We stayed two nights And were treated to wonderful five star type rooms. The property is beautiful with lake and hill views for photos and hiking. The food is world class With great taste and presentation also the staff was very friendly and informative about the menus and local highlights

“Dining fit for a king”
Wonderful gourmet dinner by their award winning chef, paired with excellent wines. Rates up there with one of the best meals I have experienced. The Lodge itself is very homey and comfortable with sitting rooms with toasty fires going and cozy sitting areas. The rooms are just adequate. Very nice location on the Isle of Skye.

“Faultless”
My husband & I thought it would be worth the splurge to stay at Kinloch Lodge and we were not disappointed! From the seamless check in where we were greeted with a champagne welcoming, to the morning we had to leave it was faultless. The grounds and the wonderful views from every direction beg you to stay on another night!...

Charming, cosy and discreetly luxurious Kinloch Lodge is a hotel and restaurant like no other.  Kinloch is a truly unique place in a magical setting, nestled at the foot of Kinloch Hill on the tranquil shoreline of the sea-loch Na Dal in Sleat on the wildly romantic Isle of Skye.  Recognised internationally, Kinloch was cited as one of the world's top 25 small hotels in Conde Naste Traveller Magazine.

Kinloch Lodge is the highland home of Claire and Godfrey Macdonald, steeped in heritage and history, and exemplifying all the traditions of highland hospitality.  Kinloch is noted for its engaging, informal atmosphere and a welcome every bit as warm as the log fires ablaze in every hearth.

Marcello Tully, resident head-chef provides an exquisite daily changing menu, using the very best of local and seasonal produce in the restaurant.  Under the ever-watchful eye of the Macdonald ancestors, whose portraits line the walls, the restaurant provides a perfect setting for an intimate meal or a family get together.

While elegant drawing rooms provide a perfect setting for afternoon tea, pre-dinner drinks and a nightcap.

Bedrooms, individually decorated in colours and textures chosen to reflect Skye's distinctive landscape, combine exceptional views with character and comfort.

It's somewhere to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday modern life.  Somewhere to unwind, relax and recharge, whilst enjoying food and hospitality.

The Macdonald's are the ultimate hosts, not only allowing their highland hideaway to become yours too, but making every effort to make your stay at Kinloch a memorable experience that will stay with you long after you leave.
